Activist movements in architecture and urban renewal are often spearheaded by women. Despite statistics showing that they make up three-quarters of active participants, higher positions continue to be held by men, who thus dominate public perception. The exhibition explores why this is the case and what structural, societal, and historical causes lie behind it.
At the same time, the exhibition seeks to identify ways in which this imbalance can be changed in the future. In addition to focusing on urban renewal and architectural activism, it also considers activist groups outside this “bubble” to paint as comprehensive a picture as possible.
Ultimately, the exhibition aims to encourage visitors to actively engage in change and contribute their own ideas to the discourse. Architects4Future seeks to inspire everyone to take responsibility for creating a more just and sustainable society.
